Study - Saria

I felt it would be fun to make a study of every Zelda character once in awhile, both canon and OC that I have drawn or will come to draw in my series and maybe shed light as to why I chose their designs.

"Forever and always... " -Saria

Full name and other titles: Saria, the Sage of Forests, the Emerald Sage

Appearances: Ocarina of Time, Mentioned in Zelda II, Mentioned in Wind Waker (canon) The Gerudo Wars, The Fallen Sage, Time's Menagerie (non-canon)

Design Notes: I can never do Saria justice. But I can try to come damn close. The first thing that always came to mind when I designed her outfit was 'simplicity.' Saria capitalizes on the concept of authenticity and simply being oneself. She has no need to hide under makeup or fancy dresses. She dons a simple flowing outfit, broken only by a simple belt around her waist. Of course, she also has to highlight the color green. Being the Sage of the Forest she radiates life and renewal. Innocence is also another quality of Saria I adore so much, and I always try to make her look as innocent as possible (making her appear sad usually gets the effect, even though she's not always sad). For a character who's supposedly so simple I tend to give Saria the most thought whenever I draw her...
